Consultation to harvest

One path, four steps. Start with a call, end with a food forest that keeps getting better.

Step 01

Site consultation

We walk your property and read what it will give you: where water sits after rain, where wind hits, how the soil drains, where sun and shade fall. We also learn how your family wants to use the land.

Afterward you get a PDF recap: a breakdown of what we covered, the best zones on your property mapped for sun, shade and access, plant recommendations, and a proposal with next steps.

On-site visits run 60–90 minutes. $350 in Bradenton and Sarasota; $550–$950 farther out. The fee is credited toward qualifying Design + Build projects.

Step 02

Design

A planting plan built for your site: which species, which layers, where each goes and in what order. We design for Florida conditions first, then for food, shade, privacy and how you move through the space.

  • Native + edible mix
  • Windbreaks
  • Phasing

Step 03

Installation

Our crew builds it: soil preparation, raised rows or beds where water demands them, mulch, fruit trees, support species and hedges. Plans get adjusted in the field when the ground says so.

We also build the hardscape that makes a food forest livable: natural pools, stone and gravel paths, firepit rooms and shade canopies, like the ones at our Bradenton home.

Step 04

Stewardship

A food forest needs less over time, but it still needs someone paying attention. Stewardship visits cover pruning, chop-and-drop, mulch, grass pressure and replanting after storms or cold, and we feed the soil biologically with compost tea, biochar and worm castings.

FAQ

What is a food forest?

A planting modeled on a forest edge: tall fruit trees, smaller trees, shrubs, herbs, groundcovers and vines in layers. Each layer feeds, shades or protects the others, so the system produces food with less input over time.

Where do you work?

Sarasota, Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch, Anna Maria Island, St. Petersburg, Tampa, Fort Myers, Naples, Miami, Orlando and roughly 75 miles around.

How much does a food forest cost?

Full Design + Build projects start at $14,000, with larger food forests typically $25,000 and up. For very small spaces, Phase-1 Eden Zones start at $4,997, and standalone design starts at $1,900. See packages and pricing for every tier.

Will it survive Florida storms and freezes?

No landscape is storm-proof or freeze-proof. We design for resilience with windbreaks, dense layering and species diversity, and we plan replanting into stewardship. Our Sarasota project lost some tropicals in the January 2026 freeze while its citrus came through well.

How soon will it produce?

Fast crops like banana, papaya and sweet potato can produce in the first year. Long-term trees like mango and avocado take longer. In Sarasota, avocado fruit appeared about three months after the freeze.

Is it maintenance-free?

No. It is maintained differently: harvesting, pruning, mulching and seasonal resets instead of mowing and spraying.
